We watched a short video, It was about a teacher of 3rd grade who was teaching the children the meaning of discrimination in their level to understand it correctly. I was shocked when I saw it. She divided the class into two groups, blue-eyed children and brown-eyed children. At first she preferred brown-eyed and gave them special privileges to the blue-eyed children. At the second time she reversed the process Then she saw the reaction of these students. She saw that there was no difference between them. Each group showed some kind of discrimination. I learned from this video that it doesn't matter what color eyes you have; one color isn't better than another.

Reflection
I will write about our video. It was about our culture and we mentioned about our old home and clothes. The group members were me, Abdulrahman and Omar. At first, Abdullrahman described our old houses such as Bait Al Shaar. I described about traditional clothes for instance, dishdasha and Ieqal and abbaya. In addition I did an interview with a couple of tourists. They said that they liked our culture and they enjoyed it. However they said also that they liked our traditional food. For Omar, he described how the Arab people travelled between their countries . Omar talked about camels which are desert ships. Finally we concluded our video by showing some tourists and talked about them. Therefore we faced one problem which was the sound. It was not clear.

Culture: the shared values, history, customs etc of a people.
Diversity: differences e.g. race, gender, economic status, religion etc.
Cultural diversity: a multicultural society where it is understood that each individual is different re. race, gender, economic status, religion, physical abilities etc. When this occurs we have social harmony i.e. peaceful co-existence of people from different backgrounds. In such a society there will be cross-cultural communication, where people from differing backgrounds can communicate and avoid conflicts and can even adopt aspects of other cultures i.e. acculturation. In this type of society there will be a widely-shared belief in human rights, basic freedoms which belong to all people regardless of colour, language, religion etc.
Bias: if you are biased it means you have an idea that someone or something is superior to another for on logical reason. It is similar to prejudice, e.g. Racial prejudice in apartheid south Africa.
Culture shock: this is when you find aspects of another culture so different from your own.
Demographics: the study of the population and its component parts
Discrimination: there was racial discrimination in apartheid south Africa.
Ethnic group: it's a group which shares similar race, religion, language, whatever.
Ethnocentricity: it's looking at the world from your own ethnic point of view; it implies that your ethnicity is superior.
Expatriate: someone from one country living and working in another ; not a tourist , not a business man on a short visit
